Mid-Semester Eval.

I met with my practicum supervisior, Ethan Holland, towards the midway point of my practicum experience. Ethan and I planned to have a short meeting to go over my work so far at the station and to discuss my progress and if there was anything I could do to improve.

Date: October 23, 2015

Time: 2 p.m. -3 p.m.

Time Spent Preparing: 30 minutes

Questions:

1. Overall, how have I been doing?

  • Ethan said: I have been doing very well, I am dependable, I take direction well, I've been very helpful to those I've worked with, I've been on time, I'm open to challenges, and that I am a go-getter.

2. What are my strengths/weakness?

  • Ethan said: As for weaknesses, he couldn't see anything so far because I don't normally work with him directly and he has not heard any complaints from those that I have worked with. As for strengths, everything he said for my first question are definitely strengths.

3. How can I improve?

  • Ethan said: I could switch around my schedule to being more open and contacting either himself or other people I've worked with to ask if there are specific events that I should come in for, no matter if it is during my previous scheduled hours.

Reflection: I felt really good about what Ethan and I discussed during our meeting. I feel like I am really helping out around the station and he gave me great feedback on how I could become more invovled and more useful to everyone. After our meeting, he took me around to meet more people that could use my help and I met some cool people that I'd love to shadow and/or work with. I am excited to continue this great opportunity and see what the rest of this semester has in store.
