Log:
I went into the studio early, at 9:30 a.m., and sat in on the 9:30 meeting. The reporters talked about the stories everyone was going to cover that day and where everyone was going to go to get footage and interviews. I went out with two of the reporters and first we went to St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Slaisbury and got video footage of some classrooms and interviewed a few students and a teacher on the Pope coming to the United States. After that, we drove around looking for an area with a lot of houses that are being rented to get footage for the new possible rent lowering law in Salisbury. We knocked on doors around rent signs to ask them to interview about the rent prices in the area. After that, we went to a press confrence in Downtown Salisbury where the Governor talked about the possibility of a new rent law. I also told the reporter I was with about a possible story idea and he picked it up. I helped him set up an interview with someone I knew could help him.
Refection:
I had a lot of fun running around with the reporters and seeing the process of getting footage for all of the shows. It takes a lot more effort than I thought to get someone to give a good interview on camera. Many people don't want to do it because they don't think they look good or just don't want to be put on camera. It was also cool to see what you've worked on all day be on TV later that night. It is fascinating seeing it all come together.
